Children who remain at Brown during the lunch period (11:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.) eat their lunches in either a designated classroom, the library (Grade 1's) or the Gym (Grades 3-6). All children are supervised. You are reminded that:
1) Peanut/Tree Nut (all nuts) should not be sent to the school. Several Brown students have serious, potentially life-threatening allergies to peanut/tree nuts.
2) You are encouraged to pack "litter-free" lunches to support Brown's continued Platinum Eco-School Status.
3) Microwaves are not available to heat up lunches.
4) We encourage you to send ice packs and/or insulated lunch boxes to ensure lunches stay fresh until the lunch period.
Milk is offered to those who sign up for $150/year. Monthly pizza lunches are organized by the Parent Council and slices may be purchased for $2 each. The forms for pizza lunch and the milk program are available for download from the Forms section of this website, and can also be obtained from the office.
From 12:00 to 12:40, the children are dismissed from the lunchrooms and can either participate in organized lunch activities or play outside. Grade 1s and 2s play in the lower playground, Grade 3-6s play in the upper playground. Again, this period of the lunch break is supervised.
Organized lunchtime activites include indoor/outdoor sports (ie: flag football), swimming and club activities (such as Eco and Outreach Committees, chess). Your children will learn more about these various opportunities via school announcements.
